Online Shopping – Its Impact On The Environment – YoomMo Highly Recommend

How convenient is shopping for all of us! It is interesting and offers a wide range in the products that we are looking for. What's more, we get to do it minus the traveling to the shops and stores. While the entire world is learning about online shopping and getting engaged in to it, lets see how it affects our environment. Does it leave an impact on our environment? Is the impact positive or negative?

Online shopping like discussed above means less travel time and lower costs but have you ever wondered about the large effects it has on our daily lives and our surroundings?

Is the Impact Positive or Negative?

Its impact on the environment is negative encouraging more trash at the curbside. Almost every online retailer relies on major carriers to deliver their goods. Sometimes there is a rise not only in the local deliveries but also in the amount of paper, mixed paper, plastic and cardboard that is pushed into the city waste stream. The lack of studies on the overall online shopping "life cycle" has made products go from raw materials to the consumer's wastebasket. Environmentalists are showing a great concern towards this. They have understood from surveys that the negatives are by far greater than the positives on environment. E-commerce has negative effects on the environment.

More Pollution:

A big negative impact online shopping has had on environment is the amount of non-recyclable materials that come with products ordered online. These hard to recycle materials are basically bubble wrap, foam rubber and expanded polystyrene. This expanded polystyrene is also known as Styrofoam.

Making the Manufacturers Responsible:

A European style method can be followed to stop the wastes being pushed to the curbside. This strategy comes into effect when you shift the responsibility of the waste processing of worn out products from municipalities to the manufacturers themselves. This will serve as a welfare system too.

It's About The Packaging:

Even delivering the same products with less packaging is advisable to stop the environment from being ruined. An effective solution would be developing two-way packaging that eliminates the waste.

Online shopping has taken the world by storm and will continue to do so for long. But, a little care has to be taken to make sure its impact is always positive and never negative in our lives and the environment. If this is done, then all combined together, this shopping experience with all its procedures will prove to be beneficial to one and all!
